An attorney for the man who was tased and beaten by Hallandale Beach police officers last week after a suspected theft is asking for millions in damages from the city.

Ronald Guralnick is asking for a $2 million settlement after the May 30th incident, adding that he has yet to officially enter into negotiations with the city and will not do so until an investigation begins – which could take months.

Surveillance video showed Daniel Dunkelberger being struck in the back of the head by one of the officers with a police baton before the three men appear to struggle on the ground outside of a car wash on Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

Dunkelberger is then seen appearing to try to get away from the officers as one of them grabs him by the shirt. He suffered cuts to his head and knee while being arrested on charges of burglary after allegedly stealing the phone out of a man’s car as well as resisting an officer.
