LeBron James Attends Sons' Basketball Games; Raises Speculation About Possible Heat Return

It’s being dubbed the “Summer of LeBron,” but to tip off this summer the biggest potential NBA free agent spent time this weekend in Miami area gyms. For the second straight day LeBron James was in the stands at Southwest Miami Senior High School as his son’s basketball team competed in the 'Balling on the Beach' tournament.

While LeBron James Jr.'s team didn’t win the championship, the biggest question surrounding the NBA off-season is -- what does his father’s future hold?

Speculation has the Heat interested in bringing James back for a second go-around on Biscayne Boulevard, where he’s already won two NBA titles.

Yet, this week Heat President Pat Riley said, ”It might not be the kind of summer that you may think something big could happen.”

On Saturday, James was seen talking at the tourament with 15-year Heat veteran Udonis Haslem. Reports have also indicated during the playoffs that James visited Miami and met with Haslem and Heat all-time leading scorer Dwyane Wade.

But with the Heat residing up against the NBA salary cap, and locked in to multiple long-term contracts, landing James would likely require a sign and trade with Cleveland.

At the conclusion of the NBA Finals James indicated his family will be a major factor in making his decision on where he will play next season.

"They were a lot younger the last time I made a decision like this four years ago,” said James.

“I got a teenage boy, a pre-teen and a little girl right now that wasn't around as well. So sitting down and considering everything, my family is a huge part of whatever I've decided to do in my career," said James

Earlier this month, Westgate Las Vegas Superbook placed 30-1 odds on the Heat winning the 2019 NBA championship, basing those odds on the potential of teams to land James. The Heat were sixth on the list of teams looking to acquire the 4-time NBA Most valuable player’s services.

NBA free agency is set to begin on July 1.
