Lion Cub Makes Big Debut at Zoo Miami

Kwasi is going on exhibit after three months of health issues.

A 3-month-old lion cub made his big debut at Zoo Miami after several months of health scares.

The cub, named Kwasi, has suffered dehydration and bacterial infections since he was born on Dec. 15th. He is now healthy enough to go on exhibit with his mother, zoo officials said.

For being a fighter, the cub was named after a famous African warrior. He was born to a lioness named Asha, who was born in the Bronx Zoo in 2010.

Kwasi and Asha made their debut Thursday at 10 a.m. The zoo says it's the first in Zoo Miami’s history that a lion cub goes on exhibit with its mother.

Zoo officials say to arrive to the park early as the cub and mother will only be out until 11:45 a.m.
