Little Havana House Fire Investigated

No one reported injured in early morning blaze at home

Authorities are investigating a fire that ripped through a Little Havana home early Wednesday.

The fire started at the home in the 700 block of Southwest 21st Road.

Miami Fire Department Chief Ron Khawly said firefighters responded to the home and found lots of heavy smoke and flames.

A person who was sleeping in the front part of the home was able to get out safely, and firefighters quickly put out the blaze.

"The fire was kept to the origin so it really didn't spread that much. we got in there really quick and extinguished it," Khawly said.

Khawly said the fire caused heavy damage to floors and was under investigation.

The home's owner said she had just purchased it last month and that she was fixing and repairing it.
