Luongo Saves 48 in Loss

The Panthers have now lost 3 of their 4 shootouts this year after falling again on Saturday

Shootouts have been a problem for the Florida Panthers this year and that continued in their loss to the Nashville Predators on Saturday.

The final score of this game was 3-2 after the shootout. It was the fourth time this season that Florida participated in a shootout and the third time it ended up on the losing end. This was also the second consecutive game that ended in a shootout. Overall, the Panthers are now 7-5-6 on the year and have 20 points.

Roberto Luongo was solid in this game saving 48 of the 50 attempts fired at him. The goalie had a good game the other day in San Jose as well after a couple of tough outings. The 48 saves were the most this year for Luongo.

The Panthers were trailing 2-0 with 43 seconds left in regulation and seemed on their way to a quiet loss. However, they would score twice in the next 12 seconds to force overtime and earn a point.

The first goal for Florida was put in the net by Rocco Grimaldi and it was also the first of his career. Assists on the second round pick's goal were credited to Brian Campbell and Aaron Ekblad.

Nick Bjugstad scored his seventh goal of the season next to tie up the game. Jimmy Hayes assisted on that one with 31 seconds left in regulation.

Sean Bergenheim remained out with a lower body injury while Scottie Upshall missed the game with an upper body ailment. Colby Robak was a healthy scratch in this one for the Panthers..

Florida will return home on Monday for a game with the Minnesota Wild at 7:30 p.m.
