Lyft Driver Accused of Attempted Sexual Battery on Passenger in Broward

Ralph Agustin Lopez, 45, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of attempted sexual battery on an incapacitated person

A Lyft driver is accused of trying to sexually batter one of his passengers in his car while dropping her off in Coral Springs.

Ralph Agustin Lopez, 45, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of attempted sexual battery on an incapacitated person in the July incident, an arrest report said.

According to the report, the 22-year-old woman had gone to Miami on a double date, going to dinner and visiting several after-hours bars. The victim said she consumed six or seven tequila and soda drinks, and her date ordered a Lyft ride for her around 4:30 a.m.

The woman told police she remembered walking with her date to the vehicle and getting in. She later couldn't recall the ride to her home in Coral Springs but said she woke up with Lopez on top of her, kissing and groping her, the report said.

"She described feeling confused and at first thinking it was her date and then slowly realizing that it was the driver of the Lyft ride," the report said.

The report said surveillance cameras from the victim's apartment complex showed part of the encounter in the car between Lopez and the victim.

Lopez was booked into jail on $50,000 bond, and a judge ordered him to surrender his passport. Attorney information wasn't available.
