Major Traffic Expected in South Florida for Thanksgiving: FDOT

South Florida highways are about to be extremely crowded with Thanksgiving travelers!

According to a release from the Florida Department of Transportation, Florida highways will see 2.2 million Thanksgiving travelers, many of whom will be in South Florida. FDOT says motorists can expect the heaviest traffic on Tuesday and Wednesday, and this coming Sunday.

This year is expected to be the busiest week for Thanksgiving travel in nearly a decade.

The heaviest traffic is likely to occur on I-95, the Florida Turnpike, State Road 826 and State Road 836. Expect major delays around the following times:

• Mid-afternoon and evening of Tuesday, Nov. 24
• Mid-afternoon and early evening of Wednesday, Nov. 25
• Afternoon and evening of Sunday, Nov. 29
