Man Charged in Fatal Road Rage Shooting Dies in Custody: Lawyer

A 57-year-old man jailed after allegedly fatally shooting another man during a road rage incident in Southwest Miami-Dade has died, according to his lawyer.

Attorney Maritza Alvarez-Shapiro told NBC 6 an incident happened on Sept. 8th at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where Andres Diaz was being held on second-degree murder charges.

Diaz was taken to Palmetto General Hospital that day and died on Tuesday. Alvarez-Shapiro said a criminal investigation is underway.

Diaz surrendered to authorities on Sept. 6th after police said the 57-year-old shot Ricky Enrique Iglesias during a "traffic dispute" on Aug. 28th.

Igelsias, who was riding an ATV, later died.

Diaz's attorney said it's unknown how the murder suspect died.

The Medical Examiner's Office is working to determine the cause of death.
