Man Arrested After Disturbance Inside Miami International Airport Terminal

Video shows man being confronted by officer near security checkpoint

Miami-Dade Police took a man into custody inside Miami International Airport after saying he was creating a disturbance Wednesday afternoon.

Officers say the man showed up inside the Concourse D check-in area and began making threatening remarks about the airport shortly after 12:30 p.m. He was quickly detained and placed under arrest by officers at the scene.

Cell phone footage captured the suspect yelling incoherently as he walked through a ticketing area and near a security checkpoint before he was confronted by an officer.

The video showed the man throwing punches at the officer, who appeared to pull out a baton. Moments later, what's believed to be a stun gun is heard as more officers respond to the scene and help take the man into custody.

The man was later seen handcuffed and being placed in the back of a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue ambulance outside the airport.

Airport officials tweeted that the incident was under control.

Officials have not released the man's identity, however they are advising travelers to allow additional time if they are driving to MIA due to traffic from police activity.
