A New York man is accused of stealing a $30,000 ring that was accidentally left on the counter of a unisex bathroom at the Neiman Marcus store in Palm Beach.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports 58-year-old Joseph Tursi of Rockville Centre, New York, was arrested Saturday after Michelle Prager notified the store's security guard that she left the ring on the counter after washing her hands.

Video surveillance revealed that a man who'd gone to the bathroom was still in the store.

Prager says the guard confronted Tursi, who "seemed really nervous.'' After police arrived, Tursi handed over the 3-carat diamond ring.

Tursi faces a grand theft charge. He was released on bond, but jail records don't say whether he has a lawyer.
