Man Arrested in Reported Road Rage Incident With Lyft Driver in Aventura

A South Florida man is facing charges after he got into an altercation with a female Lyft driver during an alleged road rage confrontation in Aventura, police said.

Carlos Camilo Nino, 61, was arrested on assault, battery and burglary charges in the Sunday night incident, according to an arrest report.

The report said Nino hit the Lyft driver's car then followed her when she pulled into the parking lot of the Aventura Library at 19525 Biscayne Boulevard. Nino got out of his car and started screaming and yelling at the Lyft driver and beating on her car window, the report said.

When the woman rolled down her window, Nino reached in and tried to hit her but missed, the report said. The woman told Nino she had pepper spray and he eventually went back to his car, the report said.

The woman got out of her car to take a picture of Nino's license plate and he slapped her hand down to try to prevent her from taking the photo, the report said. Nino and his wife drove off before officers arrived, but returned to the parking lot.

Nino told officers that the Lyft driver had caused the accident and he had to chase her down when she tried to flee, the report said. But officers spoke with the Lyft driver and her two passengers and believed their version of the incident, the report said.

Nino, who lives in Hollywood, was booked into jail, where he remained on $6,250 bond Monday, records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
