Man Still Sought After Hourslong Barricade in North Miami: Police

Police are looking for a man who they believed was barricaded inside an apartment in North Miami.

Officials initially responded to a domestic dispute at around 3 p.m. in the area of Northeast 116th Road and Canal Drive, which is right off of Biscayne Blvd.

A woman told police that she heard a bang when she went to check on the man she was having a domestic dispute with.

The woman saw that he was armed with a gun. That’s when she grabbed her child and left the apartment.

North Miami police have information that the man owns multiple guns.

Police had negotiators on scene to get the man to stand down.

When SWAT entered the apartment at around 5:30 p.m., the man wasn't there.

"It was very peculiar," said police spokeswoman Natalie Buissereth.

Police were able to make contact with the man on the phone and are looking for him for questioning. Officers aren't sure if he is armed.

Further information was not immediately available.
