Man Caught on Camera Trying to Buy Video Game With Stolen Credit Card: Cops

Police are looking for a man caught on camera trying to buy a video game with a victim's stolen credit card.

A man who broke into a car at an LA Fitness was caught on camera using the victim's stolen credit card to buy a video game, and now police are trying to use surveillance footage to find the suspect.

Authorities said the man broke into a Cadillac Escalade at an LA Fitness at 2633 North University Drive on Jan. 4th and stole the victim's wallet.

"We're not sure exactly how the person got into the vehicle," said Lt. Brad McKeone, with Coral Springs Police. "The victim thinks the vehilce was locked, however his wallet and other items were left in there."

The suspect then used the cards at several nearby businesses, police said. One of those was a Game Stop, where the suspect tried to buy a video game, but was declined after the victim cancelled his credit cards, according to police.

Now officials are hoping surveillance footage from the Game Stop will lead them to the suspect. Police said the man they are looking for is in his 20s, of medium build, about 6'0"-6'2" and has a possible scar on his right cheek.

Police also said they think this suspect may be responsible for multiple vehicle burglaries at gyms from Coral Springs to Jupiter. And they said these types of burglaries can happen to anyone.

"You can be good nine times out 10, but that one time you leave your purse or wallet, anything of value in there, somebody is probably going to try and steal it if they see it," McKeone said.

Anyone with information on this suspect is urged to contact Detective Paul Kempinski at 954-346-1214.
