Man Charged With Hitting Florida Hotel Guest With Gun

Darius Simmons was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and aggravated battery.

A man has been arrested after police say he hit a Panama City Beach hotel guest in the head with a gun, causing it to discharge.

Police said 23-year-old Darius Simmons went looking for a family member Friday at the Edgewater Beach Resort, but knocked at the wrong room. Police said an argument ensued and the hotel guests asked Simmons to leave.

A few minutes later, police said Simmons returned and the fight turned physical. Simmons allegedly pulled a handgun from his pants and struck the victim in the head, causing it to discharge at least one round.

The News Herald reports the unidentified victim wasn't shot but was treated at a hospital for a head wound.

Simmons, who is from Georgia, was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and aggravated battery.
