Man Crushed to Death by Metal Beams at Pompano Beach Business

The incident happened Monday morning at Kloeckner Metals

A truck driver was killed when a stack of metal beams fell and crushed him at a business in Pompano Beach, officials said.

The incident happened around 6 a.m. Monday at Kloeckner Metals at 1621 Northwest 12th Avenue.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue officials said the man was delivering metal beams and had gotten out of his truck when a stack of steel beams in the warehouse fell and crushed him.

Officials said the steel beams are about 40 feet long, with each bundle weighing about 6,000 pounds.

The man, identified as 71-year-old Sylvester Roulhac of Coral Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured in the incident.

The Broward Sheriff's Office and OSHA are investigating the man's death.
