A man and a dog died after a fire swept through a home in southwest Miami-Dade Thursday afternoon.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the home in the 26200 block of Southwest 127th Place around 3:20 p.m.
Once inside, they found the man unresponsive inside. He was airlifted to Kendall Regional Trauma Center where he later died.
Police later identified his as 32-year-old Edward Velez Jr.
Fire officials said a dog also died in the fire.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
