Man Dies After Jumping Off I-95 Overpass in Palm Beach County: FHP

Traffic has resumed along a busy Palm Beach County roadway after a morning confrontation involving a Florida Highway Patrol trooper that resulted in a driver jumping off a overpass to his death.

NBC affiliate WPTV-TV said the incident took place before 5 a.m. along I-95 at the exit for Hypoluxo Road. FHP trooper Jeff Johnson told the station that the driver was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed when the trooper attempted to pull him over.

The driver got off of the interstate and was stopped at the overpass, where he then got out of the vehicle and jumped around 50 feet down to the ground below. He was eventually airlifted to Delray Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials have not released the man’s identity or another additional details on the case.
