Man Found Floating in Fort Lauderdale Waterway Was Homicide Victim, 4 Arrested: Police

Detectives arrested two additional suspects after determining that a man found floating in a Fort Lauderdale waterway Monday morning was the victim of a homicide.

The Broward County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 60-year-old Jerome Harte, a homeless resident of Fort Lauderdale.

Detectives have charged Debraysia Fulton and Jean Cyma, both of Fort Lauderdale, with one count each of murder in connection with Harte's death.

Police also initially charged two homeless residents, David Harrison and Ashley Barrientos, with the crime.

Harrison and Barrientos are alleged to have had an ongoing dispute with Harte and have threatened him in the past, police say.

The initial discovery of the body was made in the waterway near Sunrise Boulevard and Bayview Drive at George English Park.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and FLPD responded to the scene early Monday morning.

Harrison and Barrientos, both 24, face murder charges and were being held early Wednesday without bond, jail records showed. It's unknown if they have attorneys.
