Man Found Shot to Death in Florida City: Police

A man was found shot to death inside his Florida City home overnight, Miami-Dade Police confirm.

The victim, 32-year-old Renaldo Clayton, goes by the nickname "Ziggy" according to family members. Clayton worked for the City of Florida City in the Parks and Recreation department, family members tell NBC 6.

According to police, Clayton was found shot to death inside his home, located at 1635 Northwest First Avenue, off of Lucy Street and US-1, just after 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Clayton shares the home with his fiance and his three-year-old son, but neither were home when the shooting occurred, family members say.

"He was just a good family guy and he didn't deserve this," Clayton's uncle, Keith Johnson, told NBC 6. "No one does, but he comes from a good, strong family and it's just sad that this happened."

Police are actively investigating the shooting. Relatives think someone may have targeted Renaldo.

"It looked like they followed him into the house," said Clayton's brother, Derrick Clayton. "It looks like they waited for him to open the door, and followed him into the house."

No further information was immediately available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
