Man Gets 60 Days for Punching JetBlue Flight Attendant

A man accused of punching a flight attendant and threatening to blow up a Florida-bound plane has been sentenced to 60 days in jail.

The Palm Beach Post reports a federal judge sentenced 30-year-old Alija Kucuk on Friday. He pleaded guilty in December to interfering with a flight attendant.

Kucuk was on a JetBlue flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Palm Beach International Airport in October when witnesses say he ran down the aisle, pushed two flight attendants and punched a third. The Queens, New York, man said during his sentencing hearing that he was drunk and on drugs during the attack.

A defense attorney said Kucuk's drinking and drug problems began after his father was murdered several years ago.
