Man Arrested for Drunken Stabbing at Miami Beach Hotel: Police

A violent scene on Miami Beach Sunday night ended with two people stabbed and an allegedly inebriated man behind bars.

The chaos started with cat calls and the suspect trying to touch passing woman outside the Colony Hotel on Ocean Drive, according to an arrest report.

Delunte Burch, 33, was allegedly drunk as he tried to touch a woman, who pushed and scolded him. That's when a witness told police Burch got up and walked into the hotel and picked a fight with servers inside, an arrest report said.

The 33-year-old got a knife and stabbed a hotel worker in the abdomen, police said. Three other people jumped in to help and fight off Burch, but he swung the knife and stabbed another employee in the arm. The victims were treated at the scene and expected to be okay.

When police arrived to the scene, Burch allegedly resisted and yelled profanities at the officer. Cellphone video showed the wild scene.  The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery, resisting officer without violence and disorderly conduct.

During a bond court hearing Monday, Burch appeared before the judge on crutches and a black eye. It was revealed that he was in town from Texas for work. Court records also revealed that the 33-year-old was on parole for a DUI conviction from 2008.

"I understand it was alcohol fueled this incidence but he's going to have to post a bond to get out of jail," said Judge Mindy Glazer. Burch was ordered held on $6,500 bond and was ordered to stay away from the victims.
