A central Florida man faces a possible life sentence for gunning down two teenagers after smoking marijuana with them.
The Ledger reports that 37-year-old Joshua Davis was convicted Friday of second-degree murder. He faces at least 25 years in prison at his Dec. 9 sentencing.
Esteban Zavala testified that he and his friends, Christian Rodriguez and Joseph Palacios, worked at the McDonald's in Winter Haven, where Davis was a manager. They had gone to Davis' apartment in April 2012 to smoke marijuana. At some point, Davis left and came back firing a handgun. He shot each of them in the head, but the bullet passed through Zavala's face and lodged in his right cheek.
Davis told authorities he became scared after smoking and thought he was protecting his family.
