A man was hospitalized after a lightning strike in Pembroke Pines Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Officers responded to the scene in the 8600 block of Pembroke Road, Pembroke Pines Police said.
Police said the man, a landscaper in his mid to late 40s or early 50s, was holding a shovel at the time of the strike.
There were no outward signs of a lightning strike such as burn marks but he became immediately unresponsive and was found in cardiac arrest after lightning struck the area, police said.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital where his exact condition was unknown.
