A man who was rushed to the hospital after he was pulled from a car that crashed into a canal in Doral Tuesday morning has died, officials said.
The crash happened in the area of the Florida's Turnpike near Northwest 74th Street. Footage showed Florida Highway Patrol troopers at the scene, where it appeared the car was completely submerged in the canal.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the man was taken to Kendall Regional Hospital as a trauma patient.
FHP officials later confirmed that he died at the hospital. His name hasn't been released but officials said he is 44 years old and from Hialeah.
Doral Police were advising drivers to avoid the area as the northbound on-ramp to the Turnpike at 74th Street was closed.
The cause of the crash was unknown.
