A 19-year-old man, who fled after authorities went to check on a report of a domestic dispute, was in custody Monday after he was bit by a police dog and being tracked down by SWAT officers, Miami Police said.
Police said a female officer fired at him and got hurt herself hunting him down.
The incident began around 1:30 am when police responded to a call of a domestic dispute near NW 26th Street and NW 22nd Ave.
Officers said they spotted a man in a car matching the description of a man involved in a domestic disturbance. They chased him, he sideswiped a police car, crashed into another vehicle and took off on foot, authorities said.
At some point, a female officer fired at him, but it wasn't immediately clear if he was hit.
The officer hurt her head during the foot chase, but authoritiies wouldn't give details. She was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Around 6 a.m., police spotted the suspect and one of their canines bit him. They took him into custody, and he was treated for minor injuries.
"He was relentless," said Kenia Reyes, Miami Police spokeswoman.
She said the alleged victim in the domestic dispute positively identified the man as her boyfriend.
Authorities were searching for a weapon.
