The man named as the prime suspect in the double murder of two women in Hialeah has been detained.

Police confirmed to NBC 6 that Adrian Leyva, 43, was taken into custody on Friday evening. The details have not been released.

Tina Gutierrez, 32, Leyva's ex-girlfriend, and Martha Gomez Perdomo, 82, were found dead in their home on Aug. 10.

The women lived in separate units at a residence located in the 900 block of East 23rd Street in Hialeah.

Police have not said how the women died. However, when Leyva was named the prime suspect, detectives said they believed he "was the one who committed these two horrific and violent crimes."

Leyva has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He is being held without bond. It is unclear whether he has an attorney.

Leyva's criminal history includes burglary, violent crimes and false imprisonment, according to police.
