A South Florida man accused of shooting and killing his neighbor during a dog poop dispute is now facing a first-degree murder charge.
A Miami-Dade grand jury indicted Omar Rodriguez on the charge Wednesday in the death of Jose Rey.
The shooting happened last month while Rey was taking his dog for a walk on Father's Day weekend. Rey and Rodriguez got into an argument about where Rey's dog was pooping and Rey ended up getting shot, police said.
Rey spent nearly a week in the hospital before succumbing to his injuries.
Rodriguez was initially charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
