Man Plunges From Metrorail Tracks Into Miami River in Apparent Suicide

A man, possibly in his early 20s, jumped from the Metrorail tracks into the Miami River on Sunday in an apparent suicide, according to Miami officials.

The incident occurred on the tracks between S. Miami Avenue and Brickell Avenue. The unidentified man did not jump from a Metrorail car, the Miami Fire-Rescue Department said.

The man was transported to Jackson Health System's Ryder Trauma Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Miami Police Department said it appears to be a suicide case. The Miami-Dade Police Department will lead the investigation into the incident because it occurred on the Metrorail system, which is under the supervision of the county.
