A man was shot in the neck near Southland Mall in Miami, authorities said Tuesday.
He was being airlifted to a hospital, and the extent of his injuries weren't immediately known.
Police say that a business employee got into a verbal fight with a customer, which escalated and shots were fired. The employee was shot and the shooter was in police custody.
The mall is located at 20505 South Dixie Highway. It released a statement Tuesday night about the incident.
"Since the police are still looking into the matter, it would be premature to comment on their investigation. What I can tell you is that the incident had nothing to do with the mall. No Southland Mall tenants were involved," said Marketing Manager Maggie Anzarado.
No other information was immediately known.
