Man Stabbed Estranged Wife to Death in Front of Their Child: Miami-Dade Police

A man accused of stabbing his estranged wife to death in front of their child in northwest Miami-Dade is facing a murder charge.

Onelio Castro-Arroyo, 51, was arrested on second-degree murder and attempted tampering with physical evidence charges in the Tuesday morning stabbing, according to an arrest report.

The report said officers responded to the 6800 block of Northwest 179th Street shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday and found the victim inside her car and suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her name hasn't been released.

About an hour later, officers responded to a home on Southwest 11th Avenue after a man called 911 to say he had killed his wife, the report said. When officers arrived, Castro-Arroyo approached them with his hands up and said he was the 911 caller, the report said.

After he was taken into custody, Castro-Arroyo told officers he had stabbed the victim, the report said. According to the report, the couple have been in a troubled relationship for several years and had recently separated.

They also have a minor child in common who witnessed the murder, the report said. The report said Castro-Arroyo dropped a "sharp edged weapon" and a blood soaked T-shirt into a dumpster after the murder.

Castro-Arroyo was booked into jail, where he was being held without bond Wednesday, records showed. Attorney information wasn't available.
