An Ocala man with eight prior DUI convictions is being held on bond after pulling into a fast food restaurant drive-through window while intoxicated.

Phillip P. Jordan, 58, was arrested Thursday after driving drunk into the KFC at 7610 Southeast Maricamp Road Thursday, according to a Marion County Sheriff's Office incident report.

After being arrested, Jordan told police he had drank beer for breakfast and that beer is his 'coffee,' the report said.

A deputy who was at the KFC first noticed Jordan when the blue Nissan pickup truck he was driving ended up too far from the drive-through window.

A fast food restaurant employee later told authorities Jordan got out of the truck to order, nearly falling over and using his car door to support himself, the report said.

The deputy followed Jordan into a Publix, where he stopped him. Jordan told the officer he was just there to pick up a friend, according to the report.

While they were talking, the deputy noticed Jordan's eyes were bloodshot and watery, and his breath smelled of alcohol, the report said. The officer also noticed two open bottles of beer in the truck.
