A man entered a taxi and requested to be dropped off at two different locations before stealing the driver’s cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash when the car arrived near Fort Lauderdale earlier this month, officials said.
Video shows the man, who according to police provided false contact information when calling the cab, wrapping his arms around the driver during the incident.
The man was picked up in the 200 block of Northwest 7th Street and asked to be driven to Northwest 31st Avenue and Northwest 19th Street, officials said. As the car arrived, the man asked to be driven to the 600 block of Northwest 2nd Street instead.
Upon arriving at the second location, the man grabbed the items, exited the vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.
