Marlins Fall to Rays Again

The Marlins lost a second consecutive game to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday

The Miami Marlins lost a second straight game in the Citrus Series as the Tampa Bay Rays came away 6-4 winners on Wednesday.

The Rays clinched a win in the three-game series between the two clubs with this win. Its been a rough season for both teams, as each will finish with a losing record. The Marlins have struggled on the road all season long and now have a 28-49 record away from Marlins Park.

This game looked like a pitchers duel until the fifth inning. With the score tied at one, the Rays plated four runs in that fourth frame. That rough inning ended Jarred Cosart's day early, in what was the final start of the season for the right-hander. Cosart finishes the year with a 2-5 record and a 4.52 E.R.A.

In his 4.2 innings of work in the loss, Cosart allowed five hits and walked four while surrendering the aforementioned five runs. Cosart is expected to be in the starting rotation to begin 2016, and could be a key to Miami's success.

Brad Hand, Jose Urena and Chris Narveson combined to allow one run out of the bullpen in their 3.1 innings of relief work. The lone run was charged to Urena who continues to struggle as a reliever. With a lack of rotation spots, Urena may have difficulty cracking Miami's roster to begin next season.

Justin Bour (18), J.T. Realmuto (21), and Christian Yelich (28) each doubled in the game. Those two-base hits represented the only three extra base hits by Miami in the game.

Jose Fernandez will make his last start of the year on Thursday, when he tries to help his team avoid a sweep in Tampa Bay.
