Marlins Move Into Tie for First With Third Straight Win

The Miami Marlins moved into a tie for first place with their 8-1 win over the New York Mets on Saturday.

The win was Miami's third in a row and it gave the team a 3-2 record on the season. The victory also clinched a series win over the Mets in Citi Field. Prior to this series, Miami had lost two of three to the Washington Nationals.

Adam Conley had a no-hitter in the fifth inning, but the wheels began to come off at that point. Even though Conley ended up only allowing one hit, he lost some command in that final inning of work. The lefty ended up allowing a run, while walking three and striking out six.

With Conley gone after only five innings, manager Don Mattingly needed plenty of work from his bullpen. First up out of the pen, was Brad Ziegler. The veteran reliever struck out two in a perfect inning of work.

Kyle Barraclough followed after Ziegler's evening was over and he also worked a scoreless inning. Barraclough struck out a pair of batters himself as well. David Phelps

Marcell Ozuna was a big reason for the win, as the outfielder hit his first home run of the season. Ozuna now has six runs batted in, through the first five games of the year. The left fielder also added a single along the way.

J.T. Realmuto tripled for the first time this season, as part of a three-hit day. Miami's catcher has 6 RBI himself this year and was hitting out of the lead-off spot in this one.
