Marlins' Series With Brewers Moved to Milwaukee

Hurricane Irma has forced the relocation of Miami's next series to Miller Park in Milwaukee

The Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers have had their their upcoming series moved to Miller Park.

Hurricane Irma only hit Marlins Park briefly, but the storm still has cost the Marlins a few home games. After assessing the neighborhood and the availability of emergency services, the Marlins and Major League Baseball made the decision on Wednesday.

In a statement, team president David Samson addressed the reasons for the relocation.

"Marlins Park stood ready to host the games, but we all agreed that burdening public service resources was not the proper course of action. Following Hurricane Irma, the Miami Marlins realize that all of our employees, as well as our entire community, have other needs that must take a priority at this time," said Samson.

The Marlins will serve as the home team in Milwaukee's home ballpark. It will be an unusual experience, but not a unique one. Multiple series have been relocated by MLB already this season, due to weather and resources. The Marlins have had games relocated in past years due to hurricanes as well.

Those with tickets to this weekend's series can either exchange them for tickets to one of final home games of the season, donate them to first responders or request a full refund.

According to Samson, the Marlins will return home on Monday to host the New York Mets. With the season drawing to a close, the Marlins have only a handful of games at Marlins Park remaining in the 2017 season. The team however can already begin counting down to the 2018 campaign. Miami found out on Tuesday, that it will host the Chicago Cubs to begin the 2018 season on March 29th.

The Marlins will continue their current series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
