Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton will continue his off the field work when he appears in an upcoming episode of "Ballers" on HBO.
The series which stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has featured multiple appearances by professional athletes. Johnson's character is an ex-member of the Miami Dolphins, who now manages the finances of players who still take the field.
The first season of the series featured a cameo by Miami Heat star Chris Andersen as well. In the episode Andersen is seen exchanging words with one of the main characters of the show. Andersen played himself for the brief appearance.
Stanton's work can be seen in a teaser released by HBO on YouTube. Viewer discretion is advised as the footage contains violence and language. Johnson also posted an image on Instagram from the filming.
This isn't the first time that Stanton has stepped in front of lights other than those found at a stadium. The slugger appeared in an MTV series last year named "Off The Bat". The series is no longer on the air, but a clip from the episode can be found here.
Stanton was also a judge for the Miss Universe pageant in January which aired on NBC. When this aired live from South Florida, Stanton was seen by many that may have previously only briefly heard of him.
All of this screen time for Stanton hasn't interfered with his on-field work. Before falling victim to a broken hand, Stanton was putting together an MVP-caliber season. Stanton was voted into the All-Star Game by a wide margin.
In the off-season, Stanton signed a 13-year deal with Miami. Despite the failures of the team this season, his contract should allow him to take part in multiple winning campaigns. The deal which was worth $325 million set a North American sports record.
"Ballers" airs on Sunday nights at 10:00 p.m. on HBO and Stanton's appearance will be in one of this season's final two episodes.
