Driver Suffers Possible Medical Emergency, Causes Multiple Crashes in Hialeah Involving 11 Cars

A driver who possibly suffered from a medical emergency caused two crashes involving a total of 11 vehicles, causing traffic headaches in one area of Hialeah Monday.

Chopper 6 was over the scene at Okeechobee Road and Le Juene Road, also known as Southeast 8th Street, near the entrance to the Airport Expressway – where seven cars were seen involved in a crash at the intersection.

Officials say the crash started when a driver hit a total of four vehicles near Southeast 5th Street and continued before coming to a stop after hitting the vehicles at 8th Street.

Officers say the driver who caused the crashes, 23-year-old Yailen Sixto, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital as was another woman in her 40s who complained of injuries.

Sixto said she suffered injuries to her neck and back as well as bruises from her seatbelt.

"My car is completely totaled, front side, back, but I have no idea when it happened, how it happened," she said.
