The first baby born in 2016 within the Memorial Healthcare System was born at 12:10 a.m. Friday at Memorial Regional Hospital.
Baby Anabelle Pierre was born weighing 7.2 pounds. Proud parents, Melissa and Jean Abel Pierre, and Anabelle are all doing well.
"I feel good. I'm really excited. She's a beautiful gift, so we are really happy that she came first for the New Year," Melissa said.
A short time later, Chris Evert Children's Hospital at Broward Health Medical Center welcomed a baby boy weighing 7.2 pounds, delivered at 12:27 a.m.
Parents Lina Burgos and Chuckie Miller of Deerfield Beach were thrilled to welcome Lionardo Antonio Miller Burgas into the world.
"It's such a beautiful experience and him having been a miracle baby, it's even more so," Lina said.
Kendall Regional Hospital welcomed the third infant born in South Florida, but the first in Miami-Dade County. Abigail Montero Morales was born at 12:44 a.m. and weighed 5.14 pounds.

Abigail is the first daughter for Lourdes Morales and Juan Montero and the first grandchild in the family.
Mount Sinai Medical Center welcomed baby girl, Sofia, at 1:12 a.m. and Alaina Star Epps was born at Baptist Hospital at 2:57 a.m.
"It's pretty exciting because I'm 16 and I didn't think she would have another baby 16 years later," said Ashley Riggins, Alaina's sister.
All the families are now getting some much-needed rest on New Year's Day.
