Miami Beach Commissioner Michael Grieco Helps Police Catch Suspected Drug Dealer

Miami Beach Commissioner Michael Grieco helped police catch a suspected drug dealer Sunday afternoon.

According to the police report, at around 9 a.m Grieco saw 55-year-old Jacobo Chigin making a drug transaction with another person along the 1400 block of Ocean Drive in Miami Beach.

Authorities said when the officer approached Chigin, he began riding away on his bicycle and told the officer "I'm not stopping."

Chigin then started to pick up speed as he headed west on 13 Street from Ocean Drive, police said. Chigin was eventually taken into custody along the 1300 block of Ocean Court.

Police said Chigin dropped the drugs he was carrying, which included a bag of marijuana and seven small bags of suspected crack cocaine.

The report said Chigin told officers, "I'm a drug addict and I got to make a living."

Chigin was transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He is being charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and resisting an officer without violence.
