Miami Beach Gay Pride Weekend Culminates with Parade

Music filled Ocean Drive as the 2017 Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival culminated with a parade.

Thousands of people filled the streets as a few thousand marched and performed along 5th and 15th Street Sunday afternoon

"This lets people show who they really are and be free," Antonio Matos said.

In its eighth year, Miami Beach Gay Pride rallies with all to stand with the LGBTQ community.

"I'm a teacher and work with the public school system and work with 4th and 5th graders and what I like to do is promote university," said Kevin Sepúlveda. "So with my students I'm always promoting how it's important to not look at people as individuals that are different from one another but rather look at them as people who are all equal to everyone else."

And as we enter a time of inclusiveness, many are reflecting on how things have changed.

"When I came out of the closet they used to kill us now they at least bear with us here so it's good and I've seen really good actions nowadays," Idania Gato said.

NBC 6 is a proud sponsor and participant of the this years Gay Pride Parade— so a few familiar faces could be seen enjoying the festivities.

"NBC 6 in its fourth year of supporting pride and it doesn't get any better than that the excitement and everybody just so happy to be out here and celebrate each other and the LGBTQ community." said NBC 6 anchor Jawan Strader.
