If your spring break plans include spending time in Miami Beach, the city is unveiling new measures aimed at ensuring a safe time – while preventing some of the unruly behavior they say has taken place at times.
The high impact time for tourists, identified as the city as being between March 1st and April 2nd, will bring the additional changes that include:
- Banning coolers, inflatable devices, tents, tables and similar structures
- Limiting live music as well as banning alcohol and marijuana use on the beach
- Prohibiting vehicle access for non-residents on certain roads while establishing occupancy limits on certain property
“We look forward to hosting hundreds of thousands of visitors who choose to spend their vacation in the fun and sun capital of the world, and we hope these proactive measures will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all,” City Manager Jimmy L. Morales said in a statement.
City officials say they may also close Ocean Driver between 5th and 12th streets during peak hours depending on crowd size will also saying that tag readers may be place by Miami Beach Police on eastbound traffic lanes of the MacArthur and Julia Tuttle causeways.
