Miami Children's Run/Walk Raises Almost Half a Million

More than 3,500 runners, walkers and corporate partners participated

Thousands of participants in the Hyundai Hope on Wheels Second Annual Miami Children’s Hospital 5K raised more than $450,000 Saturday, officials announced.

The more than 3,500 runners, walkers and corporate partners participated in the event in front of the Coral Gables City Hall and doubled last year’s donations.

“The outpouring of support from both our community and employees makes it possible for us to help fund research, equipment, medical experts and projects that allow Miami Children’s Hospital to provide the highest level of care to the children,” said Lucy Morillo-Agnetti, Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation President & CEO.

Hospital Project Helps Young Cancer Patients

The 3.1-mile run and walk was completed by top male finisher, Miles Murphy, and top female finisher, Erika Huerta, hospital officials announced. Events for younger children included a Kids Fun Race and a “handprint ceremony” for young cancer survivors.

Hyundai Hope On Wheels won the award for the Top Overall Fundraising Team and Walmart won the award for having the most participants.
