Miami-Dade County Schedules Aerial Mosquito Spraying For Monday

Portions of Miami-Dade County will receive aerial spraying for mosquitoes during the predawn hours Monday, the county announced in a release.

Spraying will address black salt marsh mosquitoes, which are known as aggressive biters but aren’t considered disease carriers.

Dibrom, a pesticide that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state have registered for use, will be used to provide treatment in Homestead, Florida City, the Redlands, West Kendall, areas east of U.S. 1 from Southwest 248th Street to the Rickenbacker Causeway and parts of Cutler Bay, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, South Miami, Coral Gables and Miami.

The spraying is weather permitting and will occur in the predawn hours Tuesday in the event of bad weather on Monday.

Individuals with known allergic reactions are advised to remain indoors as a precaution.
