Miami Dolphins Trade LB Kiko Alonso to New Orleans Saints

What to Know

  • The move came less than a day after the Dolphins traded offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills to the Houston Texans.

In another move showing it could be a long season, the Miami Dolphins traded linebacker Kiko Alonso on Sunday to the New Orleans Saints.

NFL.com reports that Miami made the move in an exchange for linebacker Vince Biegel.

A six-season veteran of the National Football League, Alonso spent the last three seasons with the Dolphins where he started all but two games over that span. Over that time, Alonso amassed 355 tackles to go along with forcing six fumbles while coming up with five interceptions and one sack.

Biegel, a native of Wisconsin who played college football in the state with the Badgers, spent his rookie season with the Green Bay Packers before signing with the Saints in 2018. For his two-season career, he has a total of 20 tackles, four last season alone.

The move came less than a day after the Dolphins traded offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills to the Houston Texans for several draft picks and role players who aren’t expected to be on the team’s roster when they open the 2019 season on September 8th against the Baltimore Ravens.
