Miami Fashion Week Features 3 Colombian Designers

A mass amount of culture can be found in Miami, whether it’s food, language or fashion. That is no different in this year’s Miami Fashion Week. This year, Colombia is the featured country and will have an exclusive runway show where inspiring native designers will showcase their exclusive collections. Carolina Estefan, Daniella Batlle and Lina Cantillo are three of the featured Colombian designers.

Here’s a little bit of what you need to know about the Colombian designers before the show:

Parsons Paris School of Design graduate Carolina Estefan will make her first appearance at this year’s Miami Fashion Week. Her experience living in Europe and South America have inspired her to create her own unique aesthetic, using mixed fabrics and versatile pieces establishing contemporary elegance in her womenswear. Be sure to keep your eye out for Estefan’s brand this upcoming fashion week.

Daniella Batlle is one of the newest emerging Colombian fashion designers. Her designs are inspired by a combination of textiles, traditional colors and styles from different regions of Colombia. The Barranquilla native was exposed to beauty and fashion by her mother and grandmother, who encouraged her to design and interpret fashion in her own way. Batlle has been able to participate in the most important fashion events in Colombia including Barranquilla Fashion Week and Bogota Fashion Week.

Lina Cantillo is a Colombian designer who studied fashion in Milan, Italy. Throughout her 20 year career, Cantillo has focused on revolutionizing the silhouettes of the contemporary man by taking European influences and tailoring them to the Latin man. She says her greatest source of inspiration “comes from life itself.” She has opened stores in Bogota, Cartagena and Miami and has participated in international fashion shows in Milan and New York.
