Miami Firefighter Charged After Allegedly Threatening Ex With Gun

A Miami firefighter found himself behind bars after police say he threatened with a gun a woman who he had been romantically involved with.

Kent Padmore was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm stemming from the May 8th incident, an arrest report said.

According to the police report, Padmore approached the victim with a gun while she was leaving work near Downtown Miami. The victim, who said she had been in a relationship with the first responder for two years before breaking it off the week before, says she struggled with Padmore to point the gun away from her before convincing him to get in her car and talk.

While inside, the victim said Padmore pointed the gun at her while also pointing it to his head and threatening to shoot himself, the report said. The victim was able to text her husband to call police, who arrived and arrested him.

In bond court Thursday, Padmore’s attorney argued his client suffers from PTSD as a Marine veteran and said he was going to attend a treatment program in Maryland before his arrest.

Judge Mindy Glazer set his bond at $5,000 and ordered Padmore to stay away from the victim, not possess a firearm and attend the program as a condition of his possible release.
