Miami Gardens Man Shot and Killed In Front of Children

Police and distraught family members were on the scene of a drive-by shooting in Miami Gardens where a man is believed to have been shot and killed in front of his girlfriend's young children.

NBC 6 spoke to the girlfriend, who identified the victim as her boyfriend, James Hall. Ashley Walton said Hall was returning the children to the home they share at 1621 NW 175th Terrace in Miami Gardens from another relative's home early Monday morning.

The children, ranging in age from 10 to 13, got out of the car. When Hall followed them, the suspects pulled up in a car and one got out and shot him in the head. They then drove off, witnesses said.

A cousin believes the children also witnessed the shooting.

"They didn't have to do him like that in front of my kids," Walton said. "They ambushed him right in front of my door."

A neighbor, who happens to be a nurse, came outside to try and help, but says his pulse was very low and that there was nothing she could do.

"I smelled the gunpowder," said the nurse, who didn't want to be identified. "I went and I got the pulse, the pulse was really, really low and he looked at me and he passed out."

"This is not ok," Walton said. "I promise to God they're going to pay for this. This is not ok."

Police are investigating the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
