Miami Heat Waive Chris Bosh, Announce Plans to Retire Jersey

The Miami Heat announced on Tuesday that they have decided to waive Chris Bosh.

Bosh was with the Heat for six seasons and helped take the Heat to two championships in 2012 and 2013. He also helped take the team to the Finals from 2011 to 2014.

“Chris changed his life and basketball career when he came to Miami,” said Miami Heat President Pat Riley. “He changed our lives for the better, in a way we never would have imagined when he joined the Heat. We will forever be indebted to CB.”

Bosh did not play for the team during the 2016-17 season after not being medically cleared due to blood clots that cut short his previous two seasons.

Riley went on to say that Bosh’s number will be retired in the future. “The number “1” will never be worn by another player and we can’t wait to someday hang his jersey in the rafters.”
