Miami Makes Postal Service's List of Top Dog Attack Cities

Miami mail carriers had a "ruff" year delivering letters in 2013, cracking the U.S. Postal Service's list of the top 30 dog attack cities.

The Magic City landed at No. 18 on the list, with 23 attacks. Houston was No. 1 with 63 attacks, followed by Los Angeles with 61 and Cleveland with 58.

Nationwide, there were 5,581 dog attacks on postal employees in 2013. National Dog Bite Prevention Week starts next week.

"There’s a myth we often hear at the Postal Service," Postal Service Manager of Safety Linda DeCarlo said in a statement. "Don’t worry — my dog won’t bite. Dog attacks are a nationwide issue and not just a postal problem. Any dog can bite and all attacks are preventable through responsible pet ownership."
