A Miami man is behind bars after police say he beat the mother of his three children earlier this year during a confrontation in Southwest Miami-Dade

Michael Hernandez was taken into custody Monday and charged with four counts stemming from the January 25th incident, including kidnapping and domestic violence. He is being held on no bond.

According to a police report, Hernandez and the victim got into an argument after he picked her up from school in Homestead. The argument became physical with Hernandez allegedly striking the victim in the head before she tried to escape.

The victim climbed into the backseat of the car, where Hernandez followed and allegedly began choking the victim before she was able to kick him off and attempt to escape.

Police say Hernandez grabbed the victim and pulled her back into the car, later driving away. The victim was later able to escape at a red light and call police after suffering injuries to her face, arms and her right shoulder.

Homestead Police arrested Hernandez, who refused to talk to officers, and he was transported to Turner Gilford Knight Correctional Facility after being turned over to Miami-Dade Police.
